Welcome to Korean Studies Workshop for American Educators

Image

The Korean Studies Workshop for American Educators provides U.S. educators with fully-funded study visits to Korea. In 2009, the Korean Studies Workshop will send up to 60 secondary school social studies educators from the United States to Korea to participate in a fully-funded, intensive 12-day workshop. Sponsored entirely by the Korea Foundation, the workshop is designed to enhance mutual understanding between the people of Korea and the United States by inviting certain U.S. educators to visit Korea and then share their experiences with fellow Americans upon their return.  Following participation in the workshop, participants will be required to submit an impact report to the Institute of International Education.

"The Korean Studies Workshop has historically and ethnically enriched my Asian unit. My curriculum on Asia is now complete...I can now teach the Asian class based on the true history of the economy, civilization and occupation themes that swept Asia." - Conrad Ulpindo, 2006 KSW participant, Former high school principal, CA

"The experience has proven to be one of the most fascinating and informative experiences of my life. The people I met in Korea and the colleagues that I traveled with were wonderful: invariably cheerful, helpful, thoughtful, and smart. And of course Korea itself--what a culturally, socially, and politically complex land. I know that I will continue to explore the meaning of Korea the rest of my life." - William Murphy, 2008 KSW participant, High school social studies teacher, ME
