IIE Capabilities
Select Education Services and Corporate Programs
Building on its work in academic exchange, IIE provides related services to educational institutions and corporations. These services include administration of U.S. admissions tests for overseas applicants, advising prospective applicants on appropriate study programs in the U.S., and providing comprehensive information to students and professionals interested in academic mobility. IIE applies its expertise in international program management to exchange initiatives undertaken on behalf of multinational corporations and nonprofit institutions. Examples of these corporate and educational programs follow:
- The ASIA-HELP Program: Responding to the 1998 Asia financial crisis, IIE launched the Asian Students in America Higher Education Loan Program (ASIA-HELP) with the generous support of the Freeman Foundation. ASIA-HELP has provided zero-interest loans to 1,400 students from Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia whose U.S. study programs were disrupted by economic downturn in their home countries.
- Corporate Services: IIE administers a wide variety of scholarship programs for multinational corporations, including programs that benefit the children of a company’s employees and programs that serve citizens of the countries in which U.S.-based corporations do business. These programs provide funds for study in the U.S., the home country, or a third country. Sponsoring companies receive direct human resource benefits without bearing the administrative burden of recruiting, distributing and processing applications, assessing financial need, selecting grantees and administering the grants, all of which can be conducted by IIE.
- IIE Passport: IIE maintains a comprehensive and interactive website for students, parents, campus-based advisors and travelers of all ages seeking educational opportunities abroad at www.iiepassport.org. This website provides more than 5,000 study abroad and learning travel opportunities worldwide.
- IIENetwork: IIENetwork, IIE's membership association, is a network of over 3,500 individuals at 750+ U.S. and internationally accredited colleges and universities with a commitment to the internationalization of higher education. IIE provides members with networking tools, publications, an interactive membership website (www.iienetwork.org), and timely information on topics of international interest.
- Publications: IIE publishes several resource books on subjects such as U.S. education abroad, grants and fellowship opportunities, and the most complete statistics on international student flows and academic mobility. A complete list of publications and ordering information is available at www.iiebooks.org.
