Linda R. Meier has been the leader of numerous community organizations, including Stanford Health Services, the Peninsula Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Junior League of Palo Alto, Stanford University Hospital, and the Stanford Athletic Board. She also has served as Vice-President of the Stanford Board of Trustees, a trustee of the California Academy of Sciences, a member of the board of the Peninsula Community Foundation, and a member of the National Advisory Board for the Haas Center for Public Service.

Mrs. Meier is a graduate of Stanford University. She is the former founding Director of University Bank and was a director of Comerica Bank-California. She currently serves on the board of directors of the California Water Service Group and the San Francisco World Affairs Council. She is one of four Co-Chairs for the Stanford Challenge, a five-year $4.3 billion university-wide campaign, and is in charge of the outreach program for the campaign. Mrs. Meier was elected to the national Board of Trustees of the Institute of International Education in October 2001.
