Reporting your Arrival in the United States

J-1 Visa Regulations require you, as an Exchange Visitor, to report your U.S. address within 10 days of your arrival and your program start date within 15 days.

As a Fulbright student, you must report your arrival to both IIE and your University/Host Institution.

1) Reporting your Arrival to IIE

Report your address here

2) Reporting arrival to your University/Home Institution and attending the International Student Orientation on campus.

When you arrive at your host institution contact the International Students Office.  You are encouraged to take with you:

a) your passport which has your J-1 Visa

b) your DS-2019

c) your I-94 Card.

There are many International Students Office’s who require copies of these documents in order for you to report your arrival and begin class registration. Be sure to identify yourself as a Fulbright Student and at the same time you can also pick up your Fulbright Welcome Package.

All new Fulbright grantees are required to attend the International Student Orientation at your host institution.  The first day of the International Student Orientation is considered your official Fulbright program start date.  At most academic institutions the International Students Office, located on your campus, conducts the International Students Orientation.
