Educational Counseling

As the main U.S. educational counseling center in Mexico, IIE's staff receives approximately 40,000 requests for information annually. IIE provides information concerning all levels and types of education in the United States, particularly for students seeking undergraduate, graduate, technical, vocational, or English-language programs. Information on summer camps, youth exchanges, primary and secondary boarding schools, etc. is also available. In addition to a collection of reference guides and university catalogs, the advising center also offers access to computer search programs and test-preparation materials. The staff carries out visits to schools and universities in Mexico and participates in various U.S. university fairs.

As a U.S. Department of State-sponsored Regional Educational Advising Center, IIE also provides support to educational advising centers throughout Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. IIE staff present outreach programs and consult with and train educational advising personnel in libraries, universities, binational centers and consulates.
