IIE/Latin America - Overview -
IIE's Role in Latin America The IIE Office for Latin America was established in Mexico City in 1974 and is active in a great number of educational exchange activities. Since its inception, the office has had two main aims: to promote inter-American understanding through education, and to provide educational opportunities that meet the special needs of our time. IIE works closely with the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to provide a wide range of educational counseling services to people who annually visit, call or write the office. IIE also works closely with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and Prometric Thomson Learning in supervising and administering the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), and the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
IIE/Latin America administers
several fellowship programs for undergraduate and graduate
students.
