The European office focuses on the internationalization of universities, developing and managing scholarship and study abroad programs.
This initiative recognizes outstanding achievement in international education. The criteria for recipients include meaningful contributions to IIE's mission of Opening Minds to the World®, relevance to European higher education, and high impact on the European education community.

The Russell Berrie Fellowship targets priests and members of the laity for the purpose of studying at the Angelicum to obtain either a License or Doctoral Degree in Theology with a concentration in Interreligious Studies.

This program provides financial support and leadership development to talented undergraduate students enrolled in engineering, technology or business management programs in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.
This program aims to identify Bulgarian students of exceptional caliber as well as promising civil service professionals and provide them with unique scholarship, entrepreneurship and leadership training in the United States.
IIE’s short term visitor programs give students an understanding of realities outside their home countries, challenge their ideas and provoke thought about world issues. The European office annually develops a set of diverse programs tailored to the needs of specific student groups.

IIE supports international higher education development through a broad range of activities, including the design and delivery of specialized academic programs and publications. The European office makes IIE's reference directories and research findings available for the European higher education community through special events and professional development seminars.
IIE’s European Office in Budapest covers approximately 30 countries in Western, Central, and Eastern Europe through its long-standing relationships with key education institutions throughout the region.

The IIE European Office is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2013 IIE Europe Award for Excellence. This year the award will be presented to Gábor Bojár on December 10th in recognition of visionary leadership in fostering US study abroad and promoting Europe as a study abroad destination for North American students by establishing the Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT).
