Daniel Obst provides strategic leadership and oversight for IIE initiatives, including the IIE Center for International Partnerships in Higher Education, the IIE network of 1,500 member institutions, IIE’s publications, and the 5-year Generation Study Abroad initiative which seeks to double the number of American students who study abroad by the end of the decade. Mr. Obst also leads IIE’s communications team.
Mr. Obst edited or co-edited several publications, including Developing Strategic International Partnerships, Global Perspectives on International Joint and Double Degree Programs and Innovation Through Education: Building the Knowledge Economy in the Middle East. In 2013, Mr. Obst was appointed to serve on the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. Mr. Obst also serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) Foundation and on the Board of Directors of the German University Alliance. Prior to joining IIE, Mr. Obst worked as Producer and Director of Product Development at the dot-com start-up iAgora.com, an online community for young internationals who live, work and study abroad.
Mr. Obst received his B.A. in International Relations from the George Washington University and holds a Master's degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics.
