With over twenty years of experience in the field of international education and exchange, Ms. Dunnigan designs and successfully implements global scholarship and comprehensive exchange programs for major corporations, higher education institutions, foundations, U.S. and foreign government agencies, including the U.S. Department of State, Afghan Ministry of Higher Education, Japanese Municipal Government Agencies, Chevron Corporation, Dole Food Company, and Mattel Children’s Foundation. Each year, Ms. Dunnigan and her team provides educational services to over 600 undergraduate students, teachers, government officials, and political leaders in approximately 50 countries. She also designed domestic outreach strategies to effectively promote scholarships and study abroad programs for undergraduate and graduate students, scholars, and K-12 teachers. In 2011, Ms. Dunnigan and her team received the prestigious Japanese Foreign Minister Commendation Award from the Government of Japan for the successful management of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program. Since 2012, Ms. Dunnigan has received additional responsibilities to launch two major global signature philanthropic programs – Toyota International Programs in STEM and Adobe Foundation Creative Scholarships.
Prior to joining IIE, Ms. Dunnigan worked for the Center for International Education at Kansai University of Foreign Studies in Japan, where she worked closely with the Dean to promote exchange programs and study/research abroad programs for undergraduate students and scholars. She also received extensive leadership/management and cross-cultural training, as a full scholarship fellow, from the Chevron Management Institute and Summer Institute of Intercultural Communication. Ms. Dunnigan studied at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan and the State University of New York at Albany for her undergraduate programs, and received a Masters of Public Administration Degree in International Management from the Graduate School of International Policy Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
Ms. Dunnigan lives in Richmond, California with her husband and son.
