IIE San Francisco leverages local expertise and capacity with Institute-wide resources to create customized programs to further higher education, exchange, and capacity building in our partners' areas of interest. IIESF provides comprehensive services to address the entire training process, including:
- Processing visa applications,
- Placing participants in short and long-term observational study tours, customized training courses, and internships programs,
- Monitoring participants progress,
- Providing support services through a nationwide network of regional offices,
- Evaluating the outcomes of training, and
- Generating progress and financial reports using streamlined administrative systems that have been custom tailored to meet the sponsors' needs.
Every year, IIE manages a variety of training and exchange programs in such fields as higher education, professional and leadership development, and teacher exchange, on topics ranging from women's empowerment to STEM field innovation. Japan-U.S. Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development
The Japan-U.S. Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) provides U.S. teachers and administrators with the opportunity to travel to Japan on this fully-funded program to learn about ESD efforts and strengthen ESD curricula in both countries. ESD is "a vision of education that seeks to balance human and economic well-being with cultural traditions and respect for the earth's natural resources," according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Using innovative technologies, cutting-edge content, and social networking tools, TechWomen fosters and develops the next generation of women leaders in the technology field by providing women and girls with the access and opportunity needed to pursue tech-based careers.
