Global EducationUSA Services Program

IIE administers the Global EducationUSA Services program, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), to support the global EducationUSA network through employing regional educational advising coordinators, managing EducationUSA Training Institutes, and promoting U.S. higher education.

Regional Educational Advising Coordinators

Regional Educational Advising Coordinators (REACs) lead the EducationUSA network of advising centers in their world region to foster international student mobility, guide and train EducationUSA advisers, and advance ECA’s public diplomacy efforts.  REACs collaborate with U.S. embassies and consulates to advance student mobility and EducationUSA advising programs.

REACs* are based in 14 locations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and Eurasia, East Asia and the Pacific, North Africa and the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and the Western Hemisphere.   For more information, visit EducationUSA

* Login access to the EducationUSA higher education site is required to view REAC pages. Logins are free of charge to faculty/staff at accredited U.S. colleges and universities, and staff at recognized national professional associations, and can be requested here

EducationUSA Training Institutes

EducationUSA Training Institutes are intensive professional development programs that provide advisers with the knowledge and skills to enhance their effectiveness in advising international students on U.S. higher education. Training Institutes are comprised of one week in Washington, D.C. followed by a second week for campus-based training. The Training Institutes are organized at various times throughout the year. Accredited institutions are invited to submit proposals to host the on-campus component of the program. Information on the RFP process and hosting advisers is available here.

Promoting U.S. Higher Education

IIE advances ECA’s commitment to promote the United States as the destination of choice by showcasing the quality of U.S. higher education and the welcoming environments for international students on U.S. college campuses. IIE develops new and enhanced marketing materials and interactive promotional platforms to equip advisers with modern tools and training to reach prospective students, parents and education administrators within their local community.

IIE increases collaboration with the U.S. higher education community to further international student mobility by raising awareness of EducationUSA as the most reliable and trustworthy network of advising professionals for recruiting, admitting, and retaining qualified international students from diverse backgrounds and locations.
