
FELLOWSHIP ADMINISTRATION
Fulbright Program
IIE provides worldwide assistance to the US Department of State in the conduct of the graduate Fulbright Program for both American and foreign students at the pre-doctoral level. IIE's US offices provide academic placement and supervision of Fulbright graduate fellows from Vietnam studying in the US and arranges pre-academic orientation and English language programs.
Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program
Fellowships are granted competitively to mid-career professional candidates with a commitment to public service in either the public or private sector in a variety of social science fields. Fellows spend one year in the US in a graduate-level non-degree program that combines academic coursework with professional development activities. IIE's US offices administer the program on behalf of the US Department of State.
Japan-IMF Scholarship for Advanced Study
To train Asian nationals as applied economists, the IMF Institute with support from the Government of Japan, supports two years of study at the doctoral level at leading universities in North America and Australia. IIE is the administrative agent for the program.
Wesleyan Freeman Scholarship
Funded by the Freeman Foundation, the major goal of the Wesleyan Freeman Scholarship is to foster relationships between the US and Asian countries by providing a four year educational experience at Wesleyan University for students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to study in the US. In Vietnam, IIE provides logistical support for the administration of this scholarship in country.
REGIONAL EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES
Environmental Exchange Program (EEP)
The EEP provides assistance to the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership to promote a "clean revolution" in Asia through the exchange of environmental experience technology and practice. US-AEP is a public private partnership led by USAID.
ASIA (Asian Studies in Asia) Fellows Program
This program seeks to develop regional expertise on Asia and to create a multilateral network of specialists to strengthen Asian scholarship within the region. IIE provides assistance to the Asia Fellows Program office in Bangkok which administers the Program on behalf of the Ford Foundation.
Global Travel and Learning Fund
In close cooperation with the Ford Foundation's Vietnam office, IIE administers a program of travel and study grants for Vietnamese scholars, experts and NGO leaders in a variety of fields. Over the past three years, GTLF grants have enabled numerous individuals to participate in international meetings or conferences and undertake short-term research/study tours in areas of professional interest.
