| The Lumina Foundation-EAS Program, administered by the Institute of International Education and generously sponsored by Lumina Foundation for Education, offers emergency educational allowances to undergraduate students from Sri Lanka and India’s southeast coast who are studying at regionally accredited US institutions and whose ability to pursue their studies has been seriously affected by the December 2004 earthquake/tsunami. US campuses are invited to nominate up to four (4) individuals for whom help is especially needed.
With continued support from the Lumina Foundation for Education, this emergency assistance program has been expanded to help Indian and Sri Lankan students in the US who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. This emergency funds program is designed to complement the efforts made by colleges and universities nationwide to reach out to students from the Gulf Coast region who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. Awards are in amounts of up to $2,000 per student and are intended to help students replace items lost in the hurricane such as books, educational equipment and necessity items or with relocation expenses to a new campus. To be considered for an award, students must be nominated by their International Student Adviser on the campus where they are enrolled for the Fall 2005 semester/term. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 7. If you are an International Student Adviser and would like to request a nomination form, please email: LuminaEAS@iie.org. |
