SMART’s research focuses on accelerating implementation of New Mobility (integrated, multi-modal, IT-enhanced and sustainable systems of transportation) that will provide seamless, convenient, safe, and cost-effective door-to-door trips for Beijing and Detroit region residents. SMART research also focuses on new innovation opportunities, new business models, and green job opportunities related to these New Mobility solutions.
The research will evolve iteratively through practice and will be grounded in the transportation and economic conditions and contexts of Beijing and Detroit. It will start with mapping and identifying opportunities and challenges for new mobility implementation. Then it will identify and test solutions. Based on this mapping and trial application, SMART research will be refined and developed further to generate actionable solutions.
