As a parent, you may have many questions about how to assist your student in his or her preparations to study abroad. We encourage you to take this opportunity to discover just how rewarding studying abroad can be. Your son or daughter is about to embark on an experience that will enhance their life academically, culturally, personally and professionally.
Whether your questions are about scholarships, finances, safety or getting a passport, there are many resources out there to guide you through the process. One of the first steps for your son or daughter to visit their study abroad advisor on campus. Most colleges and universities have someone designated to assist students in preparing to study abroad and your student should contact that advisor as early as possible. This person’s contact information can often be found on the study abroad page of the college or university’s website. If there is not a study abroad advisor, their academic advisor is the best contact.
