spacer Toyota International Teacher Program - Programs

The Toyota International Teacher Program Website has moved to www.toyota4education.com

The Toyota International Teacher Program offers fully-funded, professional development opportunities for U.S. educators to travel and study abroad. Funded by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (TMS), and administered by the Institute of International Education, the program aims to advance environmental stewardship and global connectedness in U.S. schools and communities.

Each year the Toyota International Teacher Program sends teachers overseas for intensive, two-week study visits to countries that are at the forefront of environmental challenges and solutions. These visits allow teachers to explore social and environmental themes in a global context for the application of interdisciplinary, hands-on, and solution-focused environmental education.

Participants are selected through a competitive application and selection process. All U.S. classroom teachers and teacher-librarians (grades 6-12) who teach in U.S. schools throughout the 50 states and the District of Columbia are eligible to apply.

Funded through a grant from TMS, the Toyota International Teacher Program is the only program of its kind sponsored by a major U.S. corporation. To date, 585 U.S. teachers have participated in the program since it began in 1998, with educational tours to the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and Japan. Please email us at toyotateach@iie.org if you would like to be notified when programs are announced and applications are available online. Please check out our new website at www.toyota4education.com for more information and how to apply. Thank you for your continued interest in international conservation issues.
