Fulbright - Preacademic Programs |
| For more than fifty years the Fulbright Preacademic Training Program has been an integral part of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program. The Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) provides funding for preacademic training and the Institute of International Education (IIE) administers the Fulbright Preacademic Training Program to provide English language and field-of-study training, as well as important academic skills and orientation, to Fulbright grantees prior to beginning their academic programs. In addition to providing the linguistic, academic and cultural skills that enable participants to excel in their Fulbright academic programs, these programs provide a period of adjustment and serve to orient participants to the U.S. as well as to Fulbright goals and grantee responsibilities. These programs also provide opportunities for Fulbrighters from all world areas to meet and establish an esprit de corps to foster lasting networks and promote the broader exchange goal of mutual understanding. |
