Cultural Navigator Program |
IIE Southern Regional Center's Cultural Navigators Program has served the Houston community for a number of years. The program is designed to promote student-centered learning. When students work on assignments and activities that actively involve them in the learning process, students become “cultural navigators”.
The Cultural Navigator Program is geared for K-12 students in public, private, and charter schools. Additionally, the Trunk Program was developed in correlation with the Texas Education Agency’s Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to address a number of 6th grade and World Geography objectives.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, China and Brazil kits are available to Houston and surrounding area teachers for use in their classrooms. The kits include artifacts, activities, music, and a teacher's guide. This resource is available at no cost!
