History |
The GE Foundation and the Institute of International Education (IIE) have had a strong partnership dating back to the 1950s, characterized by cooperative program development and administration as well as ongoing charitable support through the GE Foundation. The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program originated in 1987 with the first program run in Mexico. Since then, the program has expanded to fourteen countries around the world.
