Student Spotlight

Dian Kartikia, IELSP grantee from Pontianak

Through this program, I feel many big changes in my life, especially my English. This program is really important in my life, because after this program everything’s changes, my behavior, my English, my point of view about going abroad, etc. Moreover, studying English in a English Speaking Country was very helpful. We can learn many things about English directly from native speaker, and we knew how to study English through the easiest way.

With this program, my skill in writing and speaking English was improved, whereas my grammar is still messy. However, now, I think that I more confident than before. I can be interacted with many people without shame. Then, with my ability I can know many important person in my society because they usually invite me to join their activity. Everything has changed in my life. Thanks for every division which has work hard to this program. This program was made many beneficial things.

First, studying English in an English speaking country is a big chance for the grantees. Learning English directly and automatically from native speakers can make our English improved quickly. Then, besides learning English, we also can learn many things about culture and society in the U.S. Formerly, before I went to the U.S., I thought that an American was an individual person, arrogant and didn’t care with each other. In fact, my perceptions about them were changed. Obviously, they were really kind, nice person, respectful and well-organized.

Afterwards, America has a good system in education; especially when I was studied in the Center for English as a Second Language. I feel so lucky because I can understand what foreigners say when I met them. My teacher taught me clearly about how to listen in English, how to write in English, and how to speak in English. As a result, I can make a little conversation with foreigners that before I couldn’t (because I felt shy at that time).

Based on my stories above, I think this program really eligible to defend; it’s a good program.
