Daniel Obst provides strategic leadership and oversight for the activities of IIE's network of 1,400 member institutions, IIE's publications and higher education services, IIE's Center for International Partnerships in Higher Education, and IIE's strategic communications. He is the editor of IIENetworker, IIE's international education magazine, and executive editor of IIE's Global Education Research Reports series. Mr. Obst recently co-edited several books, including Global Perspectives on International Joint and Double Degree Programs, Developing Strategic International Partnerships, Joint and Double Degree Programs: An Emerging Model for Transatlantic Exchange, and Innovation Through Education: Building the Knowledge Economy in the Middle East.
In 2013, Mr. Obst was appointed to serve on the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. Mr. Obst also serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) Foundation and on the Board of Directors of the German University Alliance. Before joining IIE in 2001, Mr. Obst was producer and director of product development at iAgora.com, an online community for young internationals who live, work or study abroad. Mr. Obst received his B.A. in International Relations from the George Washington University and holds a Master's degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics.
