IIE Joins Consortium to Promote European Doctoral Programs

NEW YORK, July 19, 2010A new project called PromoDoc focusing on the promotion of European higher education at the doctoral level has just been selected by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in Brussels within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Action 3 programme.

This project, funded by the European Commission, aims to enhance the attractiveness of doctoral-level study in Europe, improve awareness of opportunities for doctoral study and facilitate access to European doctoral programmes amongst students in third countries, especially in the targeted industrialised countries and territories of Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States.

A range of information tools will be developed and a series of information, recruitment and promotion activities implemented, including information days, appointments between potential doctoral candidates and European higher education institutions, the creation of a network of “ambassadors” and participation in fairs.

The three-year project, due to start in December 2010, will be implemented by an international consortium, led by CampusFrance and composed of DAAD (Germany), Nuffic (The Netherlands), the British Council, the Institute of International Education (USA) and Eurodoc - The European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Belgium).
