Seven Uses of TOEFL ITP
The results of TOEFL ITP test are meant to be used only for the administering institution's internal purposes such as:
- Placement in intensive language programs requiring academic English proficiency at a college or graduate level.
- Progress monitoring in English language programs stressing academic English proficiency.
- Exiting English language programs by demonstrating proficiency in English listening and reading.
- Admissions to short-term, non-degree programs in English-speaking countries where the sending and receiving institutions agree to use TOEFL ITP scores without ETS score confirmation.
- Admissions to undergraduate and graduate degree programs in non-English speaking countries where English is not the dominant form of instruction.
- Admissions and placement in collaborative international degree programs where English language training will be a feature of the program.

How does TOEFL ITP differ from the standard TOEFL testing program?
Scores from the Institutional Testing Program are reported only to the testing institution which orders them, and are not transferrable to other institutions. Students receive three section scores and a total score.
Proficiency Level: TOEFL ITP and Pre-TOEFL
The Institutional Testing Program offers two tests - the TOEFL ITP and the Pre-TOEFL test. The TOEFL ITP test evaluates students' knowledge of English at the intermediate and advanced levels of English language studies. Pre-TOEFL measures the same language skills as the TOEFL test but is less difficult and requires less time. It is appropriate for students at the beginning and intermediate levels of study. Both tests can be very helpful in determining whether an individual could benefit from a particular course of study and in making placement decisions. Because Pre-TOEFL is easier and shorter, it may be a more efficient means of assessing students' English language skills at the lower levels of English language proficiency.
How to Order TOEFL ITP Materials from IIE Europe?
Ordering TOEFL ITP materials from IIE Europe is quick and easy:
Step 1: Contact the ELS team at itp@iie.eu to get an order form
Step 2: Fill out the order form and send it by e-mail or fax to IIE.
Step 3: IIE sends materials and invoice.
Step 4: Mail IIE all used and unused materials.
Step 5: Send IIE proof of payment.
Step 6: IIE sends score reports by e-mail 2-3 business days after answer sheets are received.
