The GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders (GFSLP) program, established in Mexico in 1987 and in Brazil in 2006, was sponsored by the GE Foundation and administered by IIE in 14 participating countries. It was aimed at outstanding students in their second year of studying engineering, who demonstrated financial need.
Benefits: USD$ 2,000 per semester for school expenses, tuition and support during the last three years of the degree, seminar on leadership development, professional mentoring from GE, and a community service component.
For more than twenty years, the program supported 222 fellows from Mexico and Brazil in completing their undergraduate studies in engineering. This program aimed to contribute to the fields of science and technology, and to support the development of Mexico and Brazil.
