PROJECT DIRECTOR, UNIVERSITY OF VIGO
is Professor of Economics at the University of Vigo and member of the REDE research group. After completing his graduate studies at University College London, his European doctorate focused on the use of energy regulations to tackle environmental problems. He has published in the main international journals of his field, has led several research funded-projects, with numerous research stays and visits in universities across the world. He is now lead author of the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, and coordinates the Management of Sustainable Development Master’s Degree program at the University of Vigo. He is also Co-Director of Economics for Energy, a private research center.

Pedro Linares is Associate Professor at the Pontifical Comillas University, and Research Affiliate at the Institute for Technology Research and Harvard Kennedy School. His research has been published in the main journals of the field and focuses on the relationship between energy, economics and environment, and more specifically on sustainable energy, renewable energy and environmental policy, and multi-criteria methods applied to resource allocation. He also coordinates the BP Chair on Sustainable Development and is Co-Director of Economics for Energy, a private research centre.
POST-DOC RESEARCHERS FUNDED BY ALCOA FOUNDATION GRANT
Mohcine Bakhat is a graduate in Physics from the University Abdel Malek Saasi, Morocco, and PhD in Economics from the University of the Balearic Islands, Spain. He currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vigo, with funding from the Alcoa Foundation. His PhD dealt with tourism and energy demand, which will be further developed through his work at Economics for Energy. He is also researching the relationships between energy prices and other commodities.
Luis Rey holds a PhD from the European University Institute of Florence. He currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vigo, with funding from the Alcoa Foundation. His PhD focused on the economics of natural resources. At Economics for Energy he is researching the economic modeling of energy security and analyzing mechanisms to promote energy efficiency in buildings.
Klaas Würzburg currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Vigo, with funding from the Alcoa Foundation. Previously, he worked as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Cologne, Germany, where he completed his doctoral studies in Economics. His research at Economics for Energy focuses on the economic assessment of energy efficiency measures, the linkages between energy prices and commodity prices, and the analysis and evaluation of different regulatory systems to promote renewable energy.
