Over the course of it's 12-year history, the International Fellowships Program operated in a total of 22 countries, including Russia and countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America where the Ford Foundation had a long-standing presence. Details about IFP in each country can be found on the Ford IFP Archive website.
A key feature of IFP's groundbreaking program model was the involvement of International Partner organizations who implemented the program and allowed IFP to be attuned to each country's context. This focus on the local was particularly important in terms of defining target groups for recruitment, as marginalized groups vary from one country context to the next. International Partners provided committed support to IFP fellowship applicants, fellows-elect, fellows and alumni alike.
