Generation Study Abroad | Join Generation Study Abroad | Foundations


Photo: Boren Awards winner Emma Gaalaas Mullaney in MexicoWe are seeking the support of foundations to help to double the number of study abroad by the end of the decade.  Making study abroad accessible to more students will be imperative to strengthen the global competencies of Americans. Studies show that students who study abroad are more likely to perform better academically, graduate on time, and have the necessary global skills to be successful in today’s globalized economy.

Join the campaign

Corporations and foundations that join the commitment agree to take actions to undertake new and expanded activities to enable more students to study abroad. Actions may include:

  • Launch a new study abroad initiative or scholarship;
  • Contribute to the IIE Study Abroad Fund;
  • Help students engage internationally through service learning, research, or internships;
  • Make it possible for more underrepresented students to study abroad;
  • Incorporate international competencies into their domestic giving areas of education and career preparation;
  • Update IIE on an annual basis on their activities and progress towards the meeting that target;
  • Share strategies and best practices, which will be featured at IIE’s annual Best Practices Conference;
  • Put a Generation Study Abroad badge on their websites;
  • Join the conversation at #GenerationStudyAbroad.
