Gilman Scholarship Partners with JAY Z's Shawn Carter Foundation
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and JAY Z's Shawn Carter Foundation announce a partnership to support study abroad scholarships for U.S. undergraduate citizens with financial need. Four inaugural Shawn Carter Foundation-Gilman International Scholarships have been awarded for the spring 2013 semester.

A 'World of Possibilites' for UND Gilman Scholarship Recipient

Cole Ward, a junior from Sisseton, S.D., and a McNair scholar at UND has been awarded a Gilman Scholarship which is helping to fund a semester of study in France this semester. Majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology with minors in French and political science, Ward will begin studying in Caen, a city in lower Normandy, on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Four PCC Students Win Scholarships to Study in Spain

Four Portland Community College students have earned a combined $17,000 in Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program grants for study abroad trips this spring. No other community college in the country had more scholars. In the spring, Mikaila Berni of Sherwood, Shanayia Munoz of North Plains, Christopher Shauinger of Southeast Portland and Yana Velasquez of North Portland will study in Barcelona, Spain through the college’s Study Abroad Program.

Exchange Ambassadors Study in Hong Kong as Gilman Scholars

The College of Staten Island’s Center for International Service has sent four undergraduate students to the City University of Hong Kong through its Exchange Ambassador Program for the 2013 spring semester. These “CSI Exchange Ambassadors” will be taking courses with students from all over the world as they spend the semester exploring the culturally rich city.
