Gilman Scholarship Partners with JAY Z's Shawn Carter Foundation
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and JAY Z's Shawn Carter Foundation announce a partnership to support study abroad scholarships for U.S. undergraduate citizens with financial need. Four inaugural Shawn Carter Foundation-Gilman International Scholarships have been awarded for the spring 2013 semester.

Study Abroad on a Gilman Scholarship

Nine FIU students have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for the spring 2014 semester... This semester's recipients are participating in the International Student Exchange program through FIU as well as an international internship with the United States Department of State in Lithuania. The students in the exchange program will be attending partner universities in Spain, France, Japan, Argentina, United Arab Emirates, and New Zealand.

LAS Gilman Scholars Study on Three Continents
This past summer four LAS students took their studies to destinations across the globe, thanks to the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. The Gilman Scholarship, funded by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, seeks to expand access to study abroad programs to students who may otherwise be underrepresented in their fields of study or who are faced with financial constraints. UW-Eau Claire Student Receives Gilman Scholarship to Study Abroad

A University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student has been awarded a scholarship through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program to study abroad. Christine Manwiller, a senior art history major and University Honors Program participant from Turtle Lake was awarded $5,000 to study at the Lorenzo de Medici Institute in Florence, Italy, for the 2013-14 academic year.

Donaghey Scholar Emphasizes 'Global Citizenship' Through Extensive Travels

Israsena also studied Thai language, foreign policy, the social and economic deveopment of Southeast Asia and Thai cuisine at Thammasat University. Her travel was supported through a $5,000 Gilman Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State.

Cartersville Resident to Study Abroad in China

Beginning August 31, Erin Culver of Cartersville will leave the U.S. and head to China for an approximate five-month trip, during which she will study Mandarin Chinese at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in Nanchang, China, located in the southern region of the country, with about 40 other students from across the globe.
