What is the Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund?

The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides financial assistance to an individual or organization to attend global biocultural events/exchanges or meetings of international significance which impacts the applicant’s home territory or region. This fund supports indigenous peoples and local communities to have a voice in the policies and forums that concern biocultural diversity at a global level.

Note: Individuals or organizations must apply for funding for a specific meeting or event.

Who are our past participants?

Past participants are mainly from the following areas: African Rift Valley (focus Ethiopia and Northern Kenya), Central Asia and Turkey, Northern Australia, Melanesia, and the Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexico.

  • Applications are being accepted for meetings/exchanges during the October 2013 – January 2014 period.

    Decisions on applications submitted will be made in August 2013.

    The deadline to apply is July 1, 2013.
