Project and Leader:
Asikana Network Limited
What inspired you to get involved with this project/organization?
I am a proactive leader with a deep passion for social change and mentorship for young women and girls. In line with my vision and passion, I co‐founded Asikana Network, a youth led technology organization to empower young women in Zambia. I wanted to address barriers faced by women and girls and encourage more of them to be creators of technology.
What do you hope to learn from the WeTech Network?
We hope to learn from the experiences of kindred organizations, share successes (and failures!) and build a strong network of solidarity.
What is your big dream for girls and women in STEM?
My dream for girls and women in STEM is for us and those around us to be confident in who we are, in our capabilities, and what we have to offer the world.
What is the goal of your project?
Our goal is to expose young women to the possibilities and opportunities in the mobile world and to see an increase of their participation in the tech space. We also want to build these young women’s confidence through the enhancement of their technical skills.
Who is the target audience for your project?
We are targeting high school girls, university students, and young women working or seeking to work in the ICT industry. Our participants are based primarily in Lusaka.
