Spain serves as one of the popular destinations for international students. Of the top ten sending places of origin in 2010/11, five were Italy, Colombia, Morocco, Romania, and France. Outward bound Spaniards continue to study primarily in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Unites States.

  • There were over 64,000 international students pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees in Spain in 2010/11.
  • The top five places of origin in 2010/11 were Italy, Colombia, Morocco, Romania and France.
  • Nearly 23,000 Spanish students studied abroad in other countries in 2010.
  • Universidad.es, a new Foundation representing all Spanish universities, will focus on policy recommendations to facilitate increased student mobility and exchange.
