International Organizations

IIE partners with international organizations to develop training and fellowship programs that align with their missions; convene and sustain groups of experts; deliver leadership training; and provide a host of services that ensure efficiency and due diligence, and alleviate the administrative burden on NGO staff.

IIE assists these organizations by providing services that complement and enhance their programs and operations. IIE’s approach is flexible in meeting the needs of each partner organization’s operations, program, and staffing. Among others, IIE’s services include:

• Recruitment, screening, and selection of scholarship grantees worldwide.
  
• Contracting of consultants and facilitating their travel, insurance, and meeting arrangements.
  
• Administration of grants to individual or organizational grantees with operational oversight, fiscal control, and relevant tax compliance.
  
• Record-keeping and reporting to each agency’s specifications.

Examples of IIE international organization partners include:

• International Monetary Fund (IMF). IIE conducts outreach to macroeconomists in Japan who receive scholarships to study at world class institutions and serve internships at the IMF.
  
• World Bank. IIE administers professional development grants which are awarded to individual Bank staff for research, training, and collaborative activities. IIE also assists the Bank with multi-organizational grants for distance education and educational technology.
  
• World Bank and World Health Organization. IIE works with these organizations and other strategic partners to facilitate health policy initiatives.
  
• International Labor Organization (ILO). IIE administers the ILO’s Microinsurance Innovation Facility Technical Assistance-Fellowship Program, which provides opportunities for insurance professionals to share their expertise and develop a market for valuable micro-insurance coverage to protect the working poor in developing countries.
  
• Acumen Fund. IIE manages the Acumen Fund’s Fellows Program, which annually builds an entrepreneurial cohort of professional talent that can share their expertise and contribute to the social enterprise sector around the world.
  
• Inter-American Foundation (IAF). IIE administers the IAF Grassroots Development Fellowships, which support doctoral students pursuing year-long field dissertation research on grassroots development topics across Latin America and the Caribbean.
