Ways of Giving

1919 Society

Peace and prosperity in the 21st century depends on increasing the capacity of people to think and work on a global and intercultural basis.  As technology opens borders, educational and professional exchange opens minds.

The 1919 Society is a special group of donors that shares a deep commitment to the future of IIE. By naming IIE in their will or trust, or by establishing a life income gift, these donors make the ultimate philanthropic commitment—the gift of a lifetime. For this, the Institute is extremely grateful.

Donors to The 1919 Society may allocate their gift to specific programs at the Institute, such as the Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) or the Fulbright Legacy Fund (FLF).  You may also wish to contribute to the IIE Endowment. The Scholar Rescue Fund provides support and safe haven to persecuted scholars throughout the world. The Fulbright Legacy Fund extends the mission and impact of the Fulbright Program through alumni grants and program enrichment activities.

You can become a member of The 1919 Society when you notify the Office of Development that you have included IIE in your estate plans or through other deferred gift vehicles.

As a member of The 1919 Society, you will be invited to attend roundtable discussions to learn about the work of the Institute as well as a special President’s Reception at IIE headquarters in New York City each year. You will be presented with a certificate of appreciation, and, with your permission, you will be listed in IIE’s Annual Report. You may also choose to remain anonymous.
