Country Highlight
Forecasted to be the 5th largest economy in the world in the next decade, Brazil is booming with opportunities for U.S. educational institutions. The United States has long been a top destination for Brazilian students looking to study abroad. Since 2006, the United States has seen an increase in the number of Brazilian students. Brazil is now the13th leading place of origin in the United States with a total Brazilian student population of 8,777, which is a 16% increase from 2006 and comprises approximately 1.3% of the total international student population in the United States
The majority (46.3%) of Brazilian students in the United States are undergraduate students with graduate students not too far behind at 34.8%. The launching of the Brazilian Government “Science Without Borders” program has opened opportunities for an even larger segment of the population to study abroad in fully-funded PhD programs or year-long study abroad programs. Thus, the urgency to acquire or improve English language skills is beckoning everyone.
