In 2001, The Ford Foundation launched the Ford International Fellowships Program to broaden access to higher education for marginalized individuals from over 21 countries.
2000 Helps launch the Ford Foundation's International Fellowships Program, a supported organization within IIE that seeks to provide international exchange opportunities for candidates from communities that lack access to higher education. Assists the GE Fund to establish an Internet-based application and selection process for GE's worldwide children of employee scholarships.
2001 Convenes first Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Summer Institute, bringing together 50 of the world's outstanding university students from 23 countries. Opens an office in Beijing with a focus on administration of grants competitions and programs.
2002 Establishes Scholar Rescue Fund to make permanent the IIE's historical commitment to providing support and safe have to persecuted scholars.
2005 The Institute celebrates 85 years of excellence in educating future leaders from the United States and around the world.
2007Begins assisting the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to provide graduate scholarships to outstanding students all over the world.
2009 IIE celebrates its 90th anniversary while the annual Open Doors report celebrates its 60th.
2010Partners with NYU to provide undergraduate scholarships to the first entering class of NYU Abu Dhabi, bringing outstanding liberal arts education to the Middle East.
