Mexico Study Abroad Learning Community
Nomination submitted by: Candace Barnack, M.A., Vice President of Academic Affairs
Program Mission The Mexico Study Abroad Learning Community program provides an international travel/study program unique to a two-year college system. Four instructors take part, each focusing on one aspect of Mexico: anthropology, art, literature, and Spanish language. Students register for all four courses. After several weeks of classroom instructions, the group travels to Mexico for nine days. The Learning Community concept has provided community college students with an opportunity for in-depth study of a particular culture without extensive time abroad.
