IIE Joins Diplomatic Courier as a Thought Partner; Announces Global Talent Summit 2016

Joins Data Gurus, Innovators, Educators, and Industry Leaders to discuss The World in 2050

NEW YORK, NY, January 11, 2016—The Institute of International Education will join the Diplomatic Courier as a Thought Partner for its 2016 series “The World in 2050 – A Forum About Our Future,” beginning with a pre-Davos Global Talent Summit hosted by Gallup and the Diplomatic Courier in Washington, DC on January 13, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Join via livestream)

To kick off the partnership, IIE Vice President Edith Cecil will speak about The Future of Learning at the Global Talent Summit. This day-long special event will convene innovators, educators, industry leaders and data gurus to discuss the demands placed on today’s diverse and global workforce.

To thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-focused world, future job seekers must not only possess strong skills in areas such as language arts, mathematics, and science, but also skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, persistence, collaboration, and curiosity. However, data shows students are not attaining these critical employability skills. Diplomatic Courier, Gallup, and the summit’s brain trust hope to fill this gap with substantive discussion and brainstorming that shares best practices and innovative ideas.

Success in breaking through to a new wave of global growth and prosperity will depend increasingly on human and social capital. A new, global burst of innovation and entrepreneurship will require a deep pool of highly skilled, creative, inclusive, risk taking individuals and communities.

According to IIE's President and CEO Allan E. Goodman, “International education prepares today’s students for the global workforce and equips them to solve the increasingly complex challenges facing our interconnected world.”

The Summit’s findings will be synthesized into a post-summit report, which Diplomatic Courier will distribute at major leadership gatherings in 2016, including the B20 and G20 in China, the G7 in Japan, the APEC summit in Peru, and Davos.

Gallup’s Chairman, Jim Clifton, author of “The Coming Jobs War,” will deliver the keynote address. Confirmed Speakers Include:
