Learn more about the Language Flagship Fellowships
Jesse Lynch studied Arabic as a David L. Boren Fellow at the American University in Cairo, and mastered the language through The Language Flagship program at the University of Maryland and Damascus University. Lynch has used his language skills in academia and government service. He was the official English translator of a key speech delivered by the Iraqi president at the UN General Assembly in 2008 and contributed to the development of a DVD component of a Yale University Arabic textbook. Today, he regularly travels to the Middle East as a foreign affairs officer with the U.S. Department of State.
