Welcome to the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program!

The Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund (JFMF) Teacher Program, sponsored by the Government of Japan, provides American primary and secondary school teachers and administrators with fully-funded short-term study tours of Japan. The program is designed to increase understanding between the people of Japan and the United States by inviting U.S. elementary and secondary educators to visit Japan and share their experiences with fellow Americans upon their return. JFMF participants travel to Japan with other outstanding educators, learn about Japanese culture and education, and return to implement a self-designed plan to share their knowledge and experience with their students, colleagues and community.

ImageThe Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program seeks primary and secondary educators who demonstrate potential for success and a long-term commitment to education. In 2008, up to 400 outstanding educators from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be selected to participate in one of two cycles departing in June and October. A minimum of four individuals from each state and Washington, D.C., will receive JFMF awards.

The Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program is fully funded by the Government of Japan and administered by the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund office of the Japan-United States Educational Commission (JUSEC). The Institute of International Education (IIE) is the contracting agency that coordinates promotion, application processing, preliminary selection, and pre-departure arrangements.

*The Japan-U.S. Educational Commission reserves the right to adjust the program's content, duration, and number of participants in accordance with the level of Japanese government funding.
