Gilman Alumni Representative Program

The Gilman International Scholarship Program is pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for alumni. The Gilman Alumni Representative Program will expand outreach for the Gilman Program by training highly motivated Gilman alumni to present informational sessions at their home campuses or other targeted institutions around the country. The selected representatives will be trained and equipped to present professional informational sessions on the Gilman Program for both students and advisers at selected campuses. The program is open to Gilman alumni who have completed their undergraduate degree.

Program Requirements

Participants will be required to give a minimum of three presentations in their first year. After the first year, IIE staff will contact alumni to make presentations as needed and as the participants’ schedules allow. The type of presentation and audience will vary depending on the schools needs and opportunities, but may include student informational sessions arranged by the study abroad office, presentations to advisers, or participation in study abroad fairs.

The alumni selected to participate in the program will be required to participate in a one-day training session in January.

Recognition

In addition to compensation for program-related expenses, participants will receive a $200 honorarium upon completing three presentations in their first year.

A profile of each current participant in the Gilman Alumni Representative Program will be highlighted on the Gilman sub-community of the State Department Alumni website.

Qualifications and Application Procedure

Applicants must be alumni of the Gilman International Scholarship Program, and must have completed their undergraduate degree. The program is seeking highly motivated alumni with a commitment to international education and strong public speaking skills. Participants will represent a variety of institutional backgrounds and international experiences.
