The Avery Dennison Foundation InvEnt Scholarship

Application Deadline: April 10, 2008

The InvEnt (Invention + Entrepreneurship) Scholarship Program is designed to recognize and reward invention, innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence in high-achieving students studying in the fields of science and technology at selected institutions in China. The Program was developed to encourage students to continue in these fields after graduation by helping them meet their financial needs during the period of their university attendance. The scholarship is primarily merit-based. Selected students will receive a $1,000 USD scholarship to be used in their second year of study, with possible renewal for two additional years.

These scholarship awards are part of a unique and prestigious program offered by the Avery Dennison Foundation to inspire the spirit of invention among university students. In addition to receiving scholarships, awardees will be honored at an awards ceremony. The day after the awards ceremony, scholarship recipients will attend a special workshop on invention. Future plans for InvEnt include the development of a series of engaging workshops for awardees and other interested members of the academic community at participating universities.

The participating universities in 2008 are:

  • Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication
  • South China University of Technology
  • University of Shanghai for Science and Technology

The InvEnt Scholarship Program is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and its partner the China Scholarship Council on behalf of the Avery Dennison Foundation. For more information on the Avery Dennison Foundation and the Avery Dennison company, click here.
