Environmental Modelling (World Bank EM Model) Course
trains participants from government agencies and the utility
industry on how to use the World Bank's Environmental Manual
(EM) Modeling program. It provides participants with an
opportunity to simulate the EM model using the data collected
locally. The EM is a computerized decision support system
which identifies especially the tradeoffs between costs
and environmental impacts of different energy technologies.
It can track down the emissions and costs, for example:
comparing the existing power supply system in a country,
region or specific energy project to alternative options
to deliver the same energy service (end-use), electricity
for commercial customers, or process heat for industrial
customers.
Air Pollution Control Technologies
is for plant managers and senior operations personnel. Course
provides comprehensive practical training on mitigating
environmental impacts of fossil fuel burning for industrial
purposes and electric power generation at the plant level.
Course includes sizing, specification, procurement, and
installation of pollution control equipment and its operation
and maintenance.
Regional
Air Quality Monitoring is for regulatory and company
technical personnel. It is a practical internship on ambient
air pollution modeling, monitoring, measurement, analysis,
and reporting. Course examines regulatory environment and
required infrastructure.
