The Energy Group organizes study tours and internships for
specific subjects and which address the needs of a specific
small group of professionals, usually from a single country.
study tours are usually about one month to six weeks in
length and include visits and presentations at sites around
the country, including a final week in Washington, D.C.
meeting with officials from the relevant U.S. Government
Department, World Bank and other NGOs in the D.C. area.
Internship programs are developed after reviewing the participant
applications, to address both their needs and what the various
U.S. companies can offer. The Energy Group works with participants
to finalize their individual internship program plan. The
internship may include up to three weeks in one U.S. city
working with one particular
company and/or including various site visits. Sites visited
may include national labs, major U.S. utilities, environmental
industries, various state utility commissions, state environmental
departments, and other energy or environmental companies.
The program will encompass both governmental and non-governmental
organizations, as well as the private sector. On the final
day of the program, participants and selected experts get
together for a one-day seminar to share experiences and
discuss how to implement what they learned back in their
home countries.
