ABB-Global E3 Scholarship for
Women Engineering Students to Study Abroad
Application Deadline: Please refer to our homepage for the current deadline
The ABB scholarship is available to U.S. women engineering
students studying abroad through the Global E3
program. This scholarship is supported with generous funding
from ABB Inc.,
the program's corporate sponsor. The scholarship has been
instituted to encourage the participation of talented women
students in the engineering field and to help provide these
students with valuable international experience. Each year
3-5 scholarships will be available. Awards will range from
$1,500-$3,000. On their return to the United States, each
scholarship recipient will receive complimentary membership
to the Society of Women Engineers
(SWE).
To Be Eligible
- You must be an American (or permanent U.S. resident)
female engineering major at a United States Global E3
member institution planning to study abroad through the
Global E3 program.
- Preference will be given to students demonstrating academic
and extracurricular excellence in the engineering field
and enthusiasm for study abroad.
To Apply
- Complete the online application
(click here) along with an essay indicating why the applicant
would like to study abroad and how the study abroad
experience will contribute to the applicant's education.
The essay must be seperate from the study
abroad application essay.
Deadlines
Application deadlines vary on each campus, please check with
your campus Global E3 advisor for your university's
deadlines. Applications must be received at Global E3 by: October 1 or March 1, depending on what semester you plan to study abroad.
Follow-up Requirements
- On return to the United States, scholarship recipients
are required to write a 2-3 page essay on their study abroad
experience. Excerpts may be posted in whole or in part on
the Global E3 website. The essay will be
shared with ABB.
- Scholarship recipients will also be required to promote
study abroad on their campus, by writing an article on their
experiences in the school paper, speaking about their experiences
on campus, advising in the study abroad office, posting
information on the web, or other methods.
