The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program (GSGLP) is
pleased to offer a variety of programs and
resources to its alumni. The GSGLP alumni network currently numbers 750 members, and increases in size by 150
students annually. GSGLP alumni hail from over 50 countries,
and 98 universities worldwide. Across the globe, GSGLP alumni
frequently get together to meet new classes of Global Leaders and maintain and enhance the network
they have formed through participation in the program. Alumni frequently visit each other when
traveling to different countries, keep in close contact by phone and email, and collaborate on
academic projects and social initiatives. Alumni are often given the opportunity to represent the program at various award ceremonies and events sponsored by either
the GSGLP or the Institute of International Education (IIE).
All GSGLP alumni have access to an online Alumni Resource Center, a central
password-protected alumni web page that assists alumni in learning more about, and taking advantage of, the benefits offered
to them as GSGLP alumni. The site links to detailed information about all of the alumni features
that are mentioned here. All GSGLP alumni are granted access to the
following programs and resources through the Alumni Resource Center:
- GENERAL ALUMNI RESOURCES
The GSGLP provides alumni with access to a number of resources on a variety of information, including:
leadership programs and organizations of interest, international scholarship opportunities,
social entrepreneurship resources, and a suggested reading list. The GSGLP
continually adds to and updates this information, alerting alumni to a variety of opportunities of interest. GSGLP
publications are also posted to provide updated information about the program.
- GOLDMAN SACHS ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAM
GSGLP alumni are granted unique access to a high-quality online curriculum of training and
development courses that provide alumni with a set of tools for enhancing their communications,
leadership, and decision-making skills. In collaboration with Goldman Sachs' Human
Capital Management Division, The Goldman Sachs Foundation provides access to this material,
which was designed by Harvard Business School and is used by Goldman Sachs professionals.
- SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP FUND
As part of its commitment to the Global Leaders Program, The Goldman Sachs Foundation launched
the GSGLP Social Entrepreneurship Fund in 2002, an annual competition to which all GSGLP alumni who are
enrolled full-time in a university undergraduate degree program are able to apply competitively for
support of innovative projects that address pressing local, regional, or national social issues.
The Social Entrepreneurship Fund has assisted GSGLP alumni in taking the bold step of creating their
own non-profit service organizations and successfully implementing solution-based programs to
improve conditions in impoverished or developing communities.
32 projects, involving 42 Global Leaders
from 18 countries, have been funded to date. Several of the funded projects represent collaborations
between Global Leaders who attended the annual Global Leadership Institute, a weeklong leadership
conference in New York City. Past projects include: the creation of a community school in rural India;
an anti-malaria program in Nigeria; a program to help Macedonian women at risk of poverty to start their
own businesses; and the establishment of an organization that provides scholarships for children orphaned
by AIDS in Thailand. To date, $227,693 US seed grant funds have been allocated for Global
Leaders social entrepreneurship projects worldwide.
- ALUMNI NEWSLETTERS
The GSGLP produces a bi-annual Alumni Newsletter to encourage communication and facilitate networking
among GSGLP alumni, provide a forum for alumni articles and ideas, and share information regarding
current activities and the general GSGLP schedule. Newsletter sections include class notes, alumni profiles,
written reflections, and updates on the GSGLP.
- GSGLP ALUMNI ONLINE DIRECTORY
All GSGLP alumni have access to the GSGLP Online Alumni Directory, which serves as a collection point for both personal
and professional information, allowing alumni from different classes to take advantage of the
GSGLP network and build connections across classes and regions. Use of the GSGLP Online Alumni
Directory greatly expands one's personal network through interaction with other GSGLP alumni,
increases opportunities for collaboration on common interest initiatives, and assists GSGLP alumni
in maintaining a connection both with the program and with other past participants.
