Japan Intercultural Academy of Municipalities

The Japan Intercultural Academy of Municipalities (JIAM), a training institute near Kyoto, Japan, seeks to develop the professional management skills of Japanese government employees to effectively respond to issues of globalization. Two of JIAM’s courses designed for civil servants to explore international and public policy issues involve a U.S. Study Tour, which takes place at the end of October. For approximately two weeks, participants take part in lectures and site visits to government offices and non-governmental organizations on various public policy issues.
