Selection and Notification Process

Selection Criteria and Process

Program participants will be selected through a competitive, merit-based process. Applications will be reviewed internally by IIE to assess completeness, general quality and the satisfaction of all eligibility requirements. IIE will appoint a Selection Panel, comprised of distinguished secondary-level teachers, administrators, and at-large members of the education community, to select applicants to participate in the program. Selection panelists will review each application with the following criteria as a guide.

Professional Qualifications - A demonstration of the applicant's dedication to continued professional growth as evidenced by participation in professional organizations, conferences, continuing education, and letters of reference.

Potential Value of Program Experience - An explanation of how this Program will impact the applicant and his/her school and community as evidenced by the rationale, across the curriculum outline, post program impact plan, professional goals, letters of reference, and discussion of how these relate to Program themes and objectives.

Impact at home and in the Galapagos - Evidence of how the applicant will apply his/her experiences to the school, home community and Galapagos community as evidenced by a clear and well structured outline for an interdisciplinary lesson plan, as well as a unique project or plan for incorporating your experiences in the Galapagos into your classroom, among colleagues, and in your community.
