![]() In 2003-2004, the Institute of International Education (IIE) West Coast Center in San Francisco conducted an assessment of population experts currently working in developing countries. Through this study, IIE collected and analyzed data on population experts to create an international picture of the geographic distribution of population expertise in developing countries. Population Experts in Developing Countries: A Summary Report, offers a profile of population experts' characteristics, including their training and areas of specialization. It also identifies and compares the relative attributes of population experts in the major geographic regions of Africa, Asia and the Americas. Population Experts in Developing Countries: A Directory includes contact information for 1,187 population experts currently working in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania who have given their specific consent to be included. Each of these experts has a graduate degree in a population-related field or is a current member of a population association. This study was funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. |
