To execute the Global Internship Program, IIE partners with a philanthropic partner and a local implementing nonprofit. Alcoa Foundation partners with IIE in Australia and the United States. Arconic Foundation partners with IIE in France, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Blount County Friends of the Library, in collaboration with the Blount County Public Library and the Blount County Chamber of Commerce work together to implement the Global Internship Program for Unemployed Youth in Blount County, Tennessee. Since 2013, 109 young people have gone through the internship program in Blount County. Between 2018 and 2019, IIE and Arconic Foundation will work with the Blount Partners to provide a customized workforce development program for 50 unemployed youth.
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges / IowaWORKS
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is a community college serving Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott Counties in Iowa and the contracted provider of Title I services through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for Region 9. The WIOA program is one of many service providers in the IowaWORKS One Stop office who work collaboratively to help individuals become self-sufficient and reach employment goals with a focus on skilled employment. Beginning in January 2018, IIE and Arconic Foundation will partner with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges to provide workforce training, paid internships, and career counseling to 50 young people.
Mission Locale Caen la Mer Calvados Centre
Mission Locale Caen la mer Calvados Centre (ML3C) is a non-profit organization and part of a national network of 482 Mission Locale organizations throughout France, with the mission of providing access to professional and social opportunities for youth in the Calvados region of France. Beginning in January 2018, IIE and Arconic Foundation will partner with ML3C to provide workforce training, paid internships, and career counseling to 50 young people.
Mission Locale Sarthe Nord
Mission Locale Sarthe Nord is part of a network of 482 Mission Locale organizations in France dedicated to providing access to training and jobs for unemployed young people in the northern section of the department of Sarthe in the Pays de la Loire region of northwestern France. Annually, Mission Locale Sarthe Nord provides services to more than 2,500 youth. While the general unemployment rate in Sarthe Nord is 10%, the youth unemployment rate in the area is 25%. Since 2013, more than 111 young people have gone through the Mission Locale program. Between 2018 and 2019, IIE and Arconic Foundation will partner with Mission Locale Sarthe Nord to provide opportunities for an additional 50 unemployed youth.
The Pump is a British charity located in the Shard End area of Birmingham. It provides holistic and integrated services to disadvantaged young people in order to inspire and motivate them to be the best they can be. To date, 114 young people have come through the global internship program with the Pump. Between 2018 and 2019, IIE and Arconic Foundation will partner with the Pump to provide a customized workforce development program to 25 unemployed young men and women from East Birmingham.
Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.)
Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) is a nonprofit workforce development organization based in Cleveland, Ohio that serves teens and young adults ages 14-24 living in economically distressed areas in Cuyahoga, Lorain, and Lake Counties. Y.O.U.’s programs and services are focused on ensuring these individuals are ready to pursue a path to economic self-sufficiency through mentoring, employability skills training, industry-based credential training, career exploration, jobs, and internships. Beginning in January 2018, IIE and Arconic Foundation will partner with Y.O.U. to provide workforce training, paid internships, and career counseling to 50 young people
