To date, two endowments have been established by private donors, including members of IIE’s Board of Trustees, each with gifts totaling $2 million. One of the endowments is named in memory of Rodman C. Rockefeller, a former Trustee who was deeply committed to international education.

The IIE Centennial Fellowship is a new annual fellowship program that honors IIE’s Centennial and our association with the Fulbright Program. The IIE Centennial Fellowship seeks to enhance the Fulbright Program as a life-long experience and recognize Fulbright alumni whose work embodies the underlining Fulbright values of mutual understanding, leadership, global problem solving, and global impact.

For its inaugural year, four Fulbright alumni will be selected to receive fellowship awards of up to $25,000 to help fund ongoing or planned projects that present innovative ideas that tackle global challenges, advance scholarship, and/or widen access to education.  IIE Centennial Fellowships will fund projects for up to 1 year. Candidates may work or study in any field and do not need to have an institutional affiliation.

Please note: Qualified applications will also be considered simultaneously for the New Leaders Award, a one-time award of up to $15,000. To be eligible, candidates must be recent Fulbright alumni (up to five years out of the program) and have already launched the projects described in their proposals. Winners will receive either a Centennial Fellowship or the New Leaders Award.

The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).
